Why don't I see 5G in the status bar on my iPhone?

If you don't see 5G in your iPhone's status bar, please check the following:

1. Check if 5G is available in your area

5G coverage is not universal. Some countries/regions or remote areas may only have 4G/LTE.

2. Verify if your eSIM supports 5G

  • Open Settings
  • Go to Cellular
  • Select your eSIM
  • Tap Cellular Data Options
  • If you see "Voice & Data → 5G On", your eSIM supports 5G.
  • If there is no 5G option, your eSIM plan does not support 5G and will only work on 4G/LTE.

3. Reconnect to the network

If 5G is supported:

  • Turn on Airplane Mode
  • Wait 5 seconds
  • Turn off Airplane Mode
  • This forces your iPhone to rescan and reconnect to 5G.

4. Check if your iPhone model supports 5G

Only iPhone 12 or later models support 5G.

5. If you still don't see 5G

It may be due to network congestion, weak signal, or the local tower temporarily switching to 4G/LTE.
