How do I set data limits on an Android device?

Set data warning and data limit (core anti-overage feature)

  • Go to Settings → find Mobile Network, Connections, or SIM & Network Management / Network & Internet (names vary by brand) → tap Data Usage or Data Monitoring→ Set your billing cycle (we recommend matching the start date of your eSIM plan), set a data warning at 80% of your total data (for example, 8GB for a 10GB plan), then turn on Data Limit and enter your plan's total data. Once the limit is reached, mobile data will be automatically turned off.

Turn on Data Saver mode

  • On the Data Usage page or by searching for Data Saver in Settings, turn on Data Saver to restrict background apps from using data. Only apps you are actively using will consume data. For apps that need to receive messages in real time (such as WeChat), you can manually add them to the background data whitelist.
